South African Eksteen family descendant from Heinrich Oswald Eckstein (changed to Eksteen) who settled in the Cape Colony in 1702

Eckstein (Eksteen) literally means

corner stone or key stone

Welcome to the webpage of the South African Eksteen family.

The family trees on these pages are mostly up-to-date until around 1982 when my parents got too busy to continue this shared hobby.  My late mother, Petro, an Eksteen by birth, passed away in 1994.

Despite this not being his own family, father Gerd von Aulock with his second wife Veronica’s support, has been able to continue a great passion for this hobby and shared it with me.

He has met wonderful people during the research, and has actually been to visit many of the cemeteries, farms and homes of Eksteens between 1968 and 1982.  With his constant help and urging, we are trying to bring this valuable information of a remarkable family to family members.

We try to be bilingual where we can, and apologize if we cannot be more so.

We would like to appeal to all South African Eksteen descendants to update their family details with us.  Thanks to those who have already supplied their family’s details to help get the register up-to-date.

This is a constant work-in-progress.  Please email us if any of the links don’t work so that we can fix them.
